Mohun Bagan Super Giant Sign Serbian Midfielder Dejan Drazic on Two-Year Deal
Mohun Bagan Super Giant have strengthened their midfield ahead of the new season by signing Serbian footballer Dejan Drazic on a two-year contract. The experienced attacking midfielder is set to arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday, becoming the club's first foreign signing to join the squad for the upcoming campaign.
The 30-year-old joins the Green and Maroon Brigade after spending the last two seasons with FC Goa, where he established himself as one of the Indian Super League's most creative attacking players. Last season, Drazic scored six goals and registered two assists, playing a key role in Goa's attacking setup.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Drazic is equally comfortable operating on the left wing, where his ability to cut inside, create chances and score goals has made him a dangerous attacking threat. His arrival is expected to add greater creativity to Mohun Bagan's midfield, with the Serbian likely to form an exciting partnership with Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira.
Before moving to India, Drazic enjoyed an impressive career in Europe, featuring in the UEFA Champions League while also playing in the Serbian SuperLiga and Spain's La Liga.
Speaking to MBSG Media after completing the move, Drazic said joining Mohun Bagan was an easy decision.
"Mohun Bagan is one of the biggest clubs in Asia. Alongside its history, heritage and tradition, this club has a massive member and supporter base. So, when the first offer came from the club management, I did not hesitate for a moment to make my decision. Because this club builds its team to win trophies. I think this perfectly aligns with my mentality. I love to prove myself by playing for a club like this."
The Serbian believes he has joined a squad capable of competing for every trophy this season.
"Mohun Bagan Super Giant has built a quite strong, balanced and experienced team this time. I have played against this team. I know what mentality this team steps onto the field with. I think we will be able to enter any competition with a champion's mindset."
Drazic also expressed his excitement about experiencing the famous Kolkata Derby after hearing about its rich history even before arriving in India.
"I had heard about the Kolkata Derby even before coming to India. It is one of the best derbies in Asia. While playing in the ISL, I have seen the emotion and frenzy among the club supporters regarding this match. This will be a special experience. It is a dream for any footballer to play a match like this. I also want to enjoy this excitement. I am eagerly looking forward to witnessing the excitement and atmosphere of the Kolkata Derby."
Winning silverware remains one of his biggest ambitions, and Drazic is eager to contribute to Mohun Bagan's successful culture.
"Every footballer dreams of winning trophies. During my time at the Goa club, I always gave my best and contributed as much as I could through goals and assists. However, football is ultimately a team sport. Mohun Bagan Super Giant have demonstrated over the past few years what it takes to build and sustain a winning mentality. I look forward to being part of that culture and helping maintain that consistency."
Reflecting on his time in India, the Serbian admitted he was pleasantly surprised by the growth and professionalism of Indian football.
"Before coming to India, I did not know much about the Indian league. But after coming here and playing in the ISL, I was amazed by the professionalism of Indian football. I was happy to see the standard of play and the skills of the footballers. The league is becoming more competitive and exciting every year."
Although naturally a left winger, Drazic stressed that he is ready to play wherever the team requires him.
"The left wing is my favourite position. I love cutting inside from there and delivering goal-scoring passes. However, I love playing in any attacking position. My goal is always to help the team. That will be my job, no matter what position I play in."
With proven ISL experience, European pedigree and versatility across the attacking third, Mohun Bagan Super Giant will hope Drazic's arrival adds another dimension to their title challenge in the upcoming season.
