Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal: Carles Cuadrat desperate to win three points, can't let Mohun Bagan get away in ISL

East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat says they can't let Mohun Bagan go 11 points clear of them in the ISL table and says they will have only three points in mind as they take on their Kolkata rivals on Saturday (February 3).

The two Kolkata giants will lock horns in a crucial ISL match at the Salt Lake Stadium and the Red and Gold Brigade have to capitalize on their recent upsurge, which peaked in the Kalinga Super Cup where they lifted the trophy for the first time in their history.

And as the 12-year-long trophy drought ends, the Torch Bearers' immediate focus shifts to the ISL, where they are currently struggling at 8th place with 11 points in 12 matches.

Carles Cuadrat says they can't let Mohun Bagan go 11 points clear of them in the ISL and will be giving their all to get all three points.

"Every 'Boro Match' is different. After a big win, there can be moments when you can lose concentration and we are working on that. It happened with Bengaluru FC in the past. So I know, we have been in the football world for a long time. But I also know that I don't have to ask for motivation from my players. They are motivated and disciplined to play another big match.

Mohun Bagan are already eight points clear of us. So, we need to get three points. We have to try to win and make the gap smaller. It will be our intention tomorrow to get all three points," Cuadrat said in the pre-match press conference.

East Bengal will be missing their key midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti due to four Yellow Cards in ISL so far, but Cuadrat believes they can find a solution for the upcoming match.

"We are going to play 11 vs 11, so we will try to find another player who can do Souvik's job. We are very happy with him but we have to find a solution (as Souvik is not playing)," he said.

The East Bengal coach also opened up on the departures of Borja Herrera and Javier Siverio and made it clear that Borja himself wanted to leave the club and try his luck with FC Goa under Manolo Marquez.

"We will play with four foreigners and I have full confidence in my players. We have been playing well and it shows that the team is working well. We have got two foreigners that are going to improve our team. Borja himself wanted to play for Manolo and I didn't want to stop him," Cuadrat further elaborated.
