East Bengal FC have announced the signing of Venezuelan international Richard Enrique Celis Sanchez for the remainder of the season. The 28-year-old forward can can play as both a left winger and a center-forward.
He brings a wealth of experience to the Kolkata-based club. Celis, who last played for Academia Puerto Cabello in Venezuela's top division in October 2024 will be replacing French playmaker Madih Talal, who has been ruled out for the season due to an ACL injury.

Celis has had an illustrious career, representing top-tier clubs in Venezuela, Colombia, and Slovakia, including Atletico Venezuela CF, Caracas FC, Millonarios FC, and FK Senica. He played a crucial role in Caracas' Venezuelan Primera Division title win in 2019 and Millonarios' 2022 Copa Colombia triumph.
Celis has also earned caps for the Venezuelan national team in FIFA World Cup qualifiers and Copa America. The versatile attacker has scored pivotal goals in over 250 top-tier club matches, including appearances in domestic leagues and the prestigious Copa Libertadores.
His addition is expected to strengthen East Bengal's attacking lineup as they aim for a strong finish to the season. East Bengal's signing comes at a crucial juncture as the team prepares for the second Kolkata Derby of the ISL 2024-25 season.
The most-awaited match against Mohun Bagan is set on January 11. The derby, originally scheduled at the Salt Lake Stadium, is moving due to security concerns arising from the ongoing Gangasagar Mela.
