Mohun Bagan Super Giants will look to continue their winning run in the ongoing Calcutta Football League 2023 as they take on Kalighat Milan Sangha at the Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata on Wednesday (July 26).
Mohun Bagan has been on a goal-scoring spree with 13 goals and two hat-trick scorers in just three games as the reigning ISL champions aim for their 31st Kolkata league title in the club's rich history. They have fielded a young squad for the league in order to prepare talents for the main team, who will compete in the Durand Cup soon.
Led by youth head coach Bastab Roy, the young Mohun Bagan team has shown some serious talent for the future with the likes of Suhail Ahmed Bhat and Lalrinliana Hnamte scoring a hat-trick each this CFL. The team has further talented players in U-17 World Cupper Nongdomba Noarem, Fardin Alli Molla among others.
The Kolkata giants are currently placed fourth on the points table with nine points in three games while the Green and Maroon have played no games in the last 10 days. This has allowed Diamond Harbour (13 points) to open up a gap at the top of the Group A, having played two games more. Peerless occupy the second spot with 10 points (three wins and a draw) while traditional rivals Mohammadan Sportings are ahead on goal difference.
This will also be Mohun Bagan's second match at home as they played their last game against Dalhousie at home, running away with the game 5-2 in front of a strong crowd at the 22,000-capacity Mohun Bagan ground.
Prior to that, the side played their first two games in Naihati and Barrackpore respectively, mauling Tollygunge Agragami 5-1 before seeing off Pathachakra 3-1 in the opening game of the season. The match will be streaming Live on InSport.tv app and website.
