Mohun Bagan vs Sreenidi Deccan Match Result: The defending ISL champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant have started their Kalinga Super Cup 2024 campaign with an industrious victory over Sreenidi Deccan on Tuesday (January 9).
The Group A match saw the Mariners winning the match 2-1 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The Kolkata giants had to come from behind after William Alves scored from the spot in the 28th minute. Jason Cummings scored the equalizer with a simple tap in just six minutes from the break, and then Armando Sadiku won the game for the Mariners with a goal in the 71st minute of the match.
Deccan were the better team in the first half as they created a multitude of chances. It was immense pressure from them which brought the penalty. Hector Yuste was the guilty party with the foul and Alves made no mistake to give them the lead.
The Mariners created chances of their own and came close with Hugo Boumous. Then Jason Cummings tapped one in from open goal to get themselves back into level terms.
In the second half, the Kolkata giants upped the game and threatened a lot. The elusive goal came in the 71st minute when Asish Rai's cross was guided home expertly by Albanian star Armando Sadiku.
Abhishek Suryavanshi got a second yellow in the 85th minute and Mohun Bagan were down to 10 men. Sreenidi had a few penalty shouts in the latter stages but their valiant effort ended in a defeat.
"I am so proud of my team and players. They did well. We did very well last season. Today we lost, we think that in some moments they controlled. We feel we deserved better result. My players are saying it was a clear penalty in the second half and we had the better opportunities. I am happy but we have to look into the second match," Sreenidi coach Carlos Vaz Pinto said.
"I am very pleased with the victory and also the way how the players responded and showed positive attitude. After last week, it was difficult for everyone. But players showed aggression, showed our will to win the game, and that is what we take in these 90 minutes," Mohun Bagan coach Clifford Miranda said.
Mohun Bagan will be up against Hyderabad FC in their next Super Cup match on January 14. Sreenidi Deccan take on East Bengal on the same day.
