McKennie believes Kean's potential was evident even during his time at Juventus. He mentioned in an interview with CBS, "No, I'm not surprised," referring to Kean's current form. McKennie had a conversation with Kean before a recent Coppa Italia match and praised his attributes, saying, "He has all the right credentials, that is, he's a beast, he has strength, he has speed, he has quality."
