Monaco Defeats PSG 1-0 As Takumi Minamino Scores Match-Winning Goal

Takumi Minamino scored the only goal as Monaco defeated PSG 1-0. Despite PSG's dominance in expected goals, Monaco's clinical finishing secured the victory.

Takumi Minamino's goal secured a narrow 1-0 win for Monaco against Paris Saint-Germain, despite playing with ten men. The match at Stade Louis II saw Minamino test Lucas Chevalier with a sharp volley before the half-hour mark. PSG had their own chances, including Mohammed Salisu hitting the post and having a goal disallowed for offside.

After halftime, PSG showed determination as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's shot required Lukas Hradecky to make a save. Senny Mayulu also came close with a header that narrowly missed. Minamino eventually scored in the 68th minute, expertly controlling Aleksandr Golovin's cross and finishing past Chevalier.

Monaco Triumphs Over PSG with Minamino's Goal

Monaco has consistently troubled PSG, achieving 46 victories in 99 Ligue 1 encounters. Despite PSG generating nearly double the expected goals (xG) at 1.01 compared to Monaco's 0.52, it was Monaco's efficiency that made the difference. They managed five shots on target while PSG had four.

PSG attempted to find an equaliser late in the game but faced difficulties after Thilo Kehrer received a red card for fouling Ibrahim Mbaye in the 80th minute. Vitinha and João Neves tried to score during stoppage time but were unsuccessful, highlighting PSG's struggles.

Despite holding a two-point lead at the top of the table, PSG left Stade Louis II disappointed. Their inability to convert opportunities into goals was evident throughout the match. Meanwhile, Monaco climbed to sixth place with this victory.

The match highlighted Monaco's ability to capitalise on limited chances while frustrating their opponents. This tactical discipline allowed them to maintain their strong record against PSG in Ligue 1.
