Morocco Outclasses USA With 4-0 Win To Secure Olympic Semi-Finals Spot

Morocco advanced to the semi-finals of the Olympic Games with a commanding 4-0 victory over the United States on Friday. Achraf Hakimi's spectacular goal, along with strikes from Soufiane Rahimi, Ilias Akhomach, and El Mehdi Maouhoub, secured the win as the USA struggled to pose any threat.

Nathan Harriel fouled Rahimi in the penalty area just before the half-hour mark. Rahimi calmly converted the penalty, placing the ball beyond Patrick Schulte's reach into the bottom-left corner. The USA had a chance to equalise in the 59th minute, but Miles Robinson missed Walter Zimmermann's nod-down from close range.

Four minutes after Robinson's miss, Morocco doubled their lead. Akhomach latched onto Abde Ezzalzouli's drilled cross and finished at the near post. Hakimi will be remembered for his exceptional performance, winning an aerial duel and carrying the ball from midfield to score with pinpoint accuracy from outside the box.

Hakimi's goal was a standout moment. The Paris Saint-Germain star showcased his skill by winning an aerial battle and then driving forward from midfield. He finished with precision, finding the bottom corner from outside the box.

Harriel's difficult day continued when he was penalised for handball after a VAR review in the 90th minute. Maouhoub stepped up and emphatically scored Morocco's fourth goal.

Statistical Dominance

Tarik Sektioui could not have asked for a better performance from Morocco at Parc des Princes. They created 2.53 expected goals from 15 shots, hitting the target eight times and converting all three big chances. This dominant display will boost their confidence as they prepare to face either Japan or Spain in the semi-finals.

The USA had limited opportunities throughout the match. Their best chance came in the 59th minute when Robinson failed to capitalise on Zimmermann's setup. This miss proved costly as Morocco quickly extended their lead.

The match ended with Morocco firmly in control, securing their place in the final four of the Olympic Games. The team's clinical finishing and solid defence were key factors in their impressive victory over a struggling USA side.
