Juventus recently played a thrilling 4-4 draw against Inter, but Thiago Motta remains sceptical about their title chances. Despite Kenan Yildiz's late heroics to level the game, Motta feels Juventus are not yet contenders for the Serie A crown. This high-scoring encounter marked only the third time these teams have shared eight goals in a league match, with the last such instance occurring in 1961.Motta acknowledged Juventus' spirited comeback from a two-goal deficit, which they hadn't achieved against Inter since 1978. However, he believes Inter's dominance during much of the match highlights Juventus' current gap from being genuine Scudetto challengers. "Not at this moment," Motta told DAZN, emphasising that while Juventus performed well against top contenders like Inter and Napoli, they still have work to do.The coach stressed the importance of staying grounded despite the positive performance. He noted that Napoli has retained its core squad for over a year and is well-positioned to compete for the title. Motta added, "We'll continue on our path, sticking to our ideas and our growth process." He remains optimistic about assessing their capabilities when the time is right.Reflecting on the match, Motta expressed a desire for more in terms of play and spirit. He mentioned that Juventus aimed for a different result after an incident-filled first half. Although Inter had chances to extend their lead, Juventus could have snatched victory in the end. Motta highlighted the need to understand why they excel at times but struggle against opponents' tactics at others.
Timothy Weah started instead of Yildiz and scored in the first half, echoing his father George's feat against Inter 25 years ago. Motta explained his choice: "I chose Weah because he could offer something interesting for us in transitions." He also praised Yildiz's versatility as a winger, midfielder or striker in later stages.
