Julian Nagelsmann Praises In-Form Nick Woltemade Ahead Of Germany's Match Against Luxembourg

Julian Nagelsmann commends Nick Woltemade's impressive performance as Germany gears up for a World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg. With several key players injured, Woltemade is expected to play a crucial role.

Nick Woltemade's remarkable performance at Newcastle United has caught the attention of Germany's national team. With a crucial World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg approaching, coach Julian Nagelsmann highlighted Woltemade's importance. The forward has netted four goals in eight Premier League games since transferring from Stuttgart. Due to injuries and suspensions affecting key players like Kai Havertz and Karim Adeyemi, Woltemade is expected to lead the attack.

Germany faces several challenges with injuries impacting their squad. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Antonio Rudiger are unavailable for selection. Captain Joshua Kimmich is also sidelined due to an ankle injury. In his absence, Jonathan Tah will assume the captaincy role. Nagelsmann expressed confidence in Tah's leadership abilities, noting his consistent performances this season.

Nagelsmann Highlights Woltemade's Importance for Germany

Woltemade has quickly become a fan favourite in Newcastle. His ability to press effectively, retain possession, and score goals makes him invaluable to the team. "Right now he's super important because we've got a few players out injured in that position and because he's a very good player," Nagelsmann stated during a pre-match press conference. The coach praised Woltemade's contributions on and off the field.

The German defence will see changes due to injuries. RB Leipzig's Ridle Baku is set to replace Kimmich at right-back against Luxembourg. Nagelsmann acknowledged Baku's strong performance during recent training camps and his regular starting role at Leipzig. However, the decision on who will partner Tah at centre-back remains undisclosed.

Nagelsmann hopes for the swift recovery of Kimmich and Schlotterbeck ahead of Monday’s decisive match against Slovakia. This game could determine the group leader in their World Cup qualifying pool. Despite these challenges, Nagelsmann remains optimistic about his team's capabilities.

Germany’s preparation for upcoming matches reflects both opportunity and challenge as they adapt to player absences while relying on emerging talents like Woltemade and established figures such as Tah.
