PARIS, Nov 3 (Reuters) Nancy celebrated their 40th anniversary with a 1-0 win over Girondins Bordeaux in Ligue 1 today.
The home team moved within one point of leaders Olympique Lyon thanks to a goal from midfielder Chris Malonga, who headed in a 29th-minute cross from Youssouf Hadji.
Nancy, who had drawn their previous two league games, are second with 27 points from 12 matches. Lyon entertain Valenciennes later today.
Bordeaux remain fourth with 22 points from 13 games after suffering their first away defeat of the season.
Nancy dominated in front of watching UEFA president Michel Platini, who started his professional career at the club in 1976.
Later today, Olympique Marseille try to climb out of the relegation zone when they host Lorient.
