Napoli Secures 3-1 Victory Over Como With Lukaku's Stellar Performance

Romelu Lukaku excelled in Napoli's 3-1 win over Como, scoring once and assisting twice. His contributions helped maintain Napoli's lead at the top of Serie A.

Romelu Lukaku's impressive form at Napoli continued as he scored once and assisted twice in their 3-1 victory over Como. The match began with a quick goal, just 26 seconds in, when Lukaku set up Scott McTominay, who scored his first goal for Napoli. However, Como equalised shortly before halftime through Gabriel Strefezza's long-range strike.

Napoli regained the lead eight minutes into the second half. Sergi Roberto fouled Mathias Olivera, and Lukaku converted the resulting penalty for his fourth Serie A goal this season. Despite efforts from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose shot was saved by Emil Audero, Napoli sought a third goal to secure their win.

Lukaku Leads Napoli to Victory Against Como

The decisive moment came in the 86th minute when Lukaku assisted David Neres. Holding off a defender, Lukaku passed to Neres, who finished expertly to extend Napoli's lead at the top of the standings by four points. This performance highlights Lukaku's significant contribution to Napoli's success under Antonio Conte.

Lukaku has been revitalised under Conte's management. He has contributed to more goals than any other player in their first five Serie A matches for Napoli since the league expanded to 20 teams in 2004/05. With three goals and four assists, he has already surpassed last season's assist total of three from 32 games with Roma.

Scott McTominay's early goal marked one of the fastest starts for Napoli in Serie A history during the three points per win era. It ranks third after Hirving Lozano's nine-second goal against Hellas Verona in 2021 and Ezequiel Lavezzi’s 25-second strike against Genoa in 2008.

This victory not only showcased Lukaku’s prowess but also highlighted Napoli’s strong start under Conte’s leadership. The team continues to build momentum as they aim for further success this season.
