Kolkata, March 16: The agent of Lucas Torreira, Seria A Side Sampdoria's midfield sensation claim that Napoli are in advanced talks with him and a deal is nearly done for the player.

The 22-year-old has been creating waves in Italy with his all-around midfield display and has been called up to the Uruguay national squad for the first time recently.

The central midfielder has been linked with a number of Serie A sides alongside Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Roma, as well as Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

But amidst such attention, his agent now has disclosed that Mauricio Sarri's side, Napoli are now leading the race to sign the Sampdoria midfielder.

“We still have to talk and iron out some details, but yes, I can say that the possibility of him going to Napoli looks good,” agent Pablo Bentancur told Radio Crc.

“However, a deal hasn’t been finalised. There’s no agreement: I have to check over everything, including image rights so talks don’t become too drawn-out.

“I can say that Torreira will leave Sampdoria, but as for his value and price, you have to ask his club.”

Sampdoria had reportedly demanded €50million for the Uruguay international whose contract expires in the summer of 2022, but the deal now has apparently been concluded with a fee around €30million.

Torreira joined Sampdoria from Pescara for a fee in the region of €2 million in July 2015. He mostly plays as a holding midfielder, however, can also operate as a box to box midfielder.

The player has managed to score 4 goals in 29 appearances for his club in 2017/18 and his side sit seventh in Serie A, nine points outside the top four.
