Napoli stayed in the Serie A title race with a tense 2-1 victory over Torino at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, as Alisson Santos and Eljif Elmas scored before Cesare Casadei replied late on. The result keeps Napoli third in the table, just one point shy of second-place Milan, and extends an impressive unbeaten league run at home this season.
The defending champions have struggled for consistency this campaign, yet their home form remains strong. Napoli are now unbeaten in 13 Serie A games on their own ground, with nine wins and four draws. It is their best home start in the league since the 2018-19 season, when they opened with ten victories and three draws.

Santos gave Napoli the perfect platform after only seven minutes, cutting in sharply from the left and drilling a skidding shot into the near corner. The Brazilian winger’s effort left the goalkeeper rooted and lifted the crowd. Torino tried to hit back quickly. Nikola Vlasic forced Vanja Milinkovic-Savic into two saves as the visitors searched for an instant answer.
Before Santos’ breakthrough, Torino had looked organised, but the goal shifted the tempo and space opened up. Matteo Politano then delivered a dangerous cross from the right, which found Rasmus Hojlund unmarked. The forward could not keep the header down, wasting a clear chance to double Napoli’s advantage in the first half.
After the interval, both Santos and Hojlund threatened again, only for Alberto Paleari to block their efforts. Napoli finally added a second when Leonardo Spinazzola sent in a left-wing cross. Politano cushioned the ball neatly into the area, and Elmas arrived to lash his finish beyond the goalkeeper, giving the hosts breathing space.
Torino were not finished and forced a nervous closing spell. Casadei met a cushioned header from Adams and nodded past Milinkovic-Savic to cut the deficit. Napoli then had to defend deep in the final minutes. However, Torino could not create another clear opening, and the home side saw out the contest.
Data from the game underlined Santos’ growing influence at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Santos has now scored in both of Napoli’s first two Serie A home matches of a league career, joining a select group from the three-points-for-a-win era that includes Nicola Caccia, Jose Callejon, Arkadiusz Milik and Lorenzo Tonelli.

Santos also stands out for long-range efforts. Santos and Spinazzola are the only Napoli players this Serie A season with more than one goal from outside the penalty area, with two each. Spinazzola’s creative impact is clear as well, with three goals and three assists, matching the second Serie A campaign in which Spinazzola has contributed to at least six goals.
Napoli’s win over Torino therefore tightened the top of the Serie A table and kept pressure on Milan, while also continuing a strong home sequence. The performance highlighted Santos’ fast start in front of the Napoli fans and confirmed Spinazzola’s attacking value, even as the wider title defence remains inconsistent.
