Napoli And Inter Engage In Intense Serie A Title Race As Final Matches Loom

With Napoli holding a narrow lead over Inter in the Serie A title race, the upcoming matches could determine the Scudetto winner. Napoli aims to secure victory while Inter seeks to capitalise on any missteps.

Napoli are clinging to a slender one-point lead over Inter in Serie A. The race for the final Champions League spot and the relegation battle are intensifying. If Napoli and Inter finish level on points, a play-off could decide the Scudetto. However, Napoli can secure the title with a win on Sunday if Inter lose at home to Lazio, who are in fifth place.

Napoli stumbled last weekend with a 2-2 draw against Genoa, allowing Inter to narrow the gap. Antonio Conte's team will face Parma, who sit 16th and are not yet safe from relegation. Conte will miss midfielder Stanislav Lobotka due to an ankle injury, but winger David Neres made a late appearance against Genoa. Defender Alessandro Buongiorno is expected to be on the bench for the Parma match after missing two games.

Napoli and Inter Battle for Serie A Title

Lazio have won only three of their last nine league matches but remain in contention for a Champions League spot. They are tied on 64 points with Juventus, who hold the crucial fourth position. Juventus will host Udinese at home, with several teams ready to capitalise on any slip-ups. Roma trail by just one point and will face AC Milan, who are eighth.

Inter have found form at a critical time, winning their last two away league games without conceding a goal against Monza and Lecce. Napoli aim to achieve three consecutive away wins without conceding for the first time since early 2023. Opta's supercomputer gives Napoli a 72.7% chance of lifting the trophy.

Monza have already been relegated but could influence which team joins them in Serie B as they host Empoli, who are second from bottom and level on points with Lecce. Lecce will play Torino at home. Venezia's recent victory over Fiorentina moved them one place above the relegation zone; they will visit Cagliari next.

Bologna recently lifted the Coppa Italia by defeating Milan and now sit seventh, just two points behind Juventus. They will visit Fiorentina, who are ninth with 59 points. Meanwhile, Atalanta's trip to Genoa is inconsequential as both teams have secured their positions: Atalanta in third place with a Champions League spot and Genoa safe in mid-table.

The upcoming fixtures promise excitement as nine games kick off simultaneously on Sunday. The only match without significant stakes is Atalanta versus Genoa on Saturday. With many teams fighting for European spots or battling relegation, every point counts in this thrilling Serie A season finale.
