Hojlund's Heroics Lead Napoli To 2-1 Victory Over Juventus In Serie A Clash

Rasmus Hojlund scored twice to secure a crucial 2-1 victory for Napoli against Juventus, maintaining their lead in Serie A. His performance highlights Napoli's unbeaten home record this year.

Rasmus Hojlund's two goals, including a decisive one in the 78th minute, propelled Napoli to a 2-1 victory over Juventus. This win placed Napoli one point ahead at the top of Serie A on Sunday. Initially, it seemed Napoli might lose points in their Scudetto pursuit, but Hojlund's late header from inside the box secured the win.

Napoli's early momentum almost increased when Giovanni Di Lorenzo's header from Noa Lang's corner was saved by Michele Di Gregorio. Despite this, Napoli maintained pressure after halftime. Hojlund nearly scored again but missed after outpacing Lloyd Kelly. Scott McTominay also came close with a powerful shot that narrowly missed.

Napoli Defeats Juventus 2-1 in Serie A

Hojlund has been revitalised under Antonio Conte this season, scoring four times in Serie A. His seventh-minute goal against Juventus was Napoli's fastest against them since 1989. With this win, Napoli remained unbeaten at home in Serie A for a calendar year for the first time since 1987.

Juventus managed to equalise before the hour mark through Kenan Yildiz. After Weston McKennie's setup, Yildiz found the bottom-left corner with precision. However, Napoli responded as Neres' cross led to McKennie's own goal assist, allowing Hojlund to score again from close range.

Napoli deserved their victory with an expected goals (xG) total of 1.59 from nine shots compared to Juventus' 0.24 from five attempts. Luciano Spalletti’s team is currently seventh after 14 games this season. They are also the only team in Europe's top five leagues not to lose a home game in 2025.

The match began with Hojlund scoring just seven minutes in by converting David Neres' cross past Di Gregorio's dive. This early lead set the tone for a competitive game at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

This victory means Napoli leads Inter by one point and could be joined by AC Milan if they beat Torino on Monday. The team's performance showed resilience and determination as they continue their quest for the Scudetto.
