Nassr Secure 1-0 Win Over Al-Ettifaq As Coman Delivers Decisive Strike

Al-Nassr tightened control of the Saudi Pro League title race with a 1-0 victory over Al-Ettifaq at Al-Awwal Park, opening an eight-point lead at the top. Kingsley Coman scored the decisive first-half goal, while Al-Ettifaq finished with 10 players after Jack Hendry’s late dismissal.

Al-Hilal still hold a match in hand and can trim the margin to five points, yet this result gives Jorge Jesus’ Al-Nassr a strong advantage in the chase for a first league crown since the 2018-19 season. Al-Nassr also moved to within two goals of 1,000 in Saudi Pro League history.

Nassr beat Ettifaq as Coman scores

Al-Nassr’s attacking control showed clearly in the numbers, especially during an intense first half. The team produced 2.27 expected goals before the interval alone, compared with Al-Ettifaq’s total xG of 1.00 across the full 90 minutes. Coman’s close-range finish contributed 0.98 of that first-half figure on its own.

Team / Player Metric Value
Al-Nassr First-half xG 2.27
Al-Ettifaq Total match xG 1.00
Al-Nassr Total match xG 3.14
Cristiano Ronaldo Shots 7
Cristiano Ronaldo Individual xG 0.65
Al-Hilal Total Pro League goals 1,125

Cristiano Ronaldo led all players with seven attempts worth 0.65 xG but failed to score, while Al-Nassr’s overall total reached 3.14 xG. Despite that wastefulness, the team is now only two goals away from becoming the second Saudi Pro League club to reach 1,000 goals, after Al-Hilal’s 1,125.

The breakthrough arrived slightly after the half-hour, following an early scare for Al-Ettifaq when Sadio Mane’s effort was cleared off the line. Marek Rodak initially denied Ronaldo from close range, but Coman reacted quickest and guided in the rebound from short distance to cap a flowing move.

Ronaldo struck the woodwork soon after Coman’s goal, underlining Al-Nassr’s command of the contest. Early in the second half, Al-Ettifaq briefly rallied when Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Dembele both tested Bento, yet the goalkeeper produced an excellent double save to maintain the narrow advantage.

As the match progressed, frustration grew for Ronaldo when another attempt was cleared off the line with Rodak beaten. Joao Felix and Mane were also guilty of missing promising openings, but Al-Ettifaq rarely threatened a comeback and created little sustained pressure on the Al-Nassr defence.

Stoppage time brought further trouble for Al-Ettifaq, as Jack Hendry received a red card for an elbow on Joao Felix, leaving the visitors short-handed for the closing moments. Al-Nassr comfortably protected the 1-0 lead, strengthened control of the Saudi Pro League standings, and stayed firmly on track in both the title race and historic scoring pursuit.
