In the final of the four quarterfinals of Euro 2024, the Netherlands will be challenged by Turkiye at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Saturday (July 6).
The Oranje and the Crescent-Stars have a very competitive history and the Netherlands has a slight edge. Though the recent records are favourable to Turkiye. The last two meetings of these two rivals ended in a milieu of goals, as one match won by Turkiye by 4-2 and the other one won by the Dutch side by 6-1. This match will be their first meeting in the knockout of any major tournament.

Despite being grouped into a comparatively easier group, the Oranje finished third in Group D, behind Austria and France. Though in the knockout the Dutch showed a stellar performance in a 3-0 victory against Romania.
On the other hand, Turkiye comfortably glided through the hurdles of the group stage winning two out of the three matches. In the round of 16, Turkiye beat Austria in a 2-1 thriller.
Netherlands have been heavily dependent upon the performance of Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons. Both the youngsters have proven their potential in this Euro, being involved in seven-goal contributions together. In the right wing, Donyell Malen is expected to start replacing Steven Bergwin, after a brilliant display in the last match against Romania, scoring two goals.
In the midfield, Tijjani Reijnders and Jerdy Schouten are decent in the past matches. The Oranje already boast a defensive line-up consisting of players like Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Ake, Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij.
Turkiye on the other hand, have won their last two matches and will try to continue this streak also in this match. Arda Guler has already come into the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney by scoring and having an assist in a Euro as a teenager. In the midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu and Kenan Yildiz would be the key players.
Orkun Kokcu and Ismail Yuksek will miss the match due to suspension. Merih Demiral, the scorer of the last match also got suspended. Samet Akaydin could be his replacement. The Crescent-Stars has to focus on discipline as they already have accumulated 18 yellow cards in this Euro.
