New Delhi, Aug 27: The Defending Champions beat Sri Lanka 3-1 in an impressive round-robin match of the Nehru Cup on Wednesday, Aug 26.

Captain Bhaichung Bhutia, Gouramangi Singh and Steven Dias scored for India to place themselves in a strong position for booking a final berth in the Nehru Cup international tournament.

WDRD Warakagoda scored the single goal for Sri Lanka in 61st minute.

The Indian team that performed its best in the match against Sri Lanka, has a total of six points from two wins and a loss.

The home team will be facing Syria next, on Aug 29.
