Netherlands FIFA World Cup 2026 Squad: Memphis Depay Included As Koeman Announce 26-Man Squad
Memphis Depay has recovered from injury just in time for next month’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Coach Ronald Koeman included the forward in his 26-man Netherlands squad on Wednesday, despite limited recent minutes. Depay is the country’s all-time top scorer with 55 goals.
Depay played his first match in several weeks on Sunday. He featured for Brazilian club Corinthians after a thigh injury. Koeman said, “I’d have preferred... it happened earlier,” and added he must “wait and see” how fit Depay is before the World Cup games.

Timber brothers selected, Kluivert back from surgery
Justin Kluivert also returned from injury and was selected. The Bournemouth forward had knee surgery earlier this year. Defender Jurrien Timber made the squad after winning the Premier League with Arsenal and regaining fitness. His brother Quinten Timber, now at Marseille, was also named in the Netherlands group.
West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville received his first senior call. Koeman praised Summerville’s “speed, action, his play without the ball in defense. Very trustworthy.” Liverpool wingback Jeremie Frimpong was left out. Koeman said Frimpong often struggles with injuries, despite strong club form in recent seasons.
Midfielder Xavi Simons will miss the tournament. He ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in April, playing for Tottenham against Wolverhampton. The Netherlands has reached three World Cup finals but never won. They lost in 1974 to West Germany, in 1978 to Argentina, and in 2010 to Spain.
FIFA World Cup 2026: Koeman’s WC Report
Koeman captained the Netherlands at the 1994 World Cup in the United States. The Dutch then lost 3-2 to eventual champions Brazil in the quarterfinals. This year, the Netherlands will play Group F matches against Japan in Dallas, then Sweden, and finally Tunisia.
