Eddie Howe feels Newcastle United made significant progress with their comeback win against Wolves, continuing their strong start to the Premier League season. Mario Lemina initially put Wolves ahead, but goals from Fabian Schar and Harvey Barnes within five minutes turned the game around, propelling Newcastle to third place in the early standings.
Newcastle has shown remarkable resilience this season, earning four points from losing positions, second only to Manchester City's six. This victory marks their best start since the 1995-96 season under Kevin Keegan when they won their first four matches. Howe acknowledged the importance of this win amid rumours of internal unrest at St. James' Park.

"Massive win for us. Away from home, we have questions to answer and that is a big step forward for us," Howe said. "I think we are stepping forward in terms of our performances. I think it was a step in the right direction. We can improve in lots of different aspects and that is what we are going to be working on this week."
The momentum shifted after halftime when Howe made three substitutions to change his team's fortunes. Alexander Isak and Sean Longstaff were replaced by Harvey Barnes and Sandro Tonali. Howe explained his decisions: "I wasn't totally satisfied and the lads know they have to perform. We have the ability to make those changes."
Howe praised the substitutes for their impact: "I have to credit the players who came on. Everyone played their part and it is a massive win." He noted that Fabian Schar's goal boosted confidence, followed by Harvey Barnes' moment of brilliance.
With ten points from their first four games, Newcastle aims to secure a Champions League spot this season. Howe emphasised the importance of maintaining team unity: "We are a really tight-knit group and we have to remain that way."
The Magpies' ability to recover from setbacks has been crucial so far, showcasing their determination and teamwork as they strive for success in the Premier League.
