Lewis Miley Secures Six-Year Contract Extension With Newcastle United
Newcastle United have agreed a new six-year deal with midfielder Lewis Miley, tying the 20-year-old to the club until 2032. The contract follows Miley’s breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, in which Newcastle United finished 12th in the Premier League and did not add to their EFL Cup success.
Miley’s numbers underline that progress. The midfielder featured in 23 Premier League matches during 2025-26, starting 15. Miley contributed one league goal and four assists, showing consistent influence despite Newcastle United’s mixed results across the domestic season.

Across the 2025-26 Premier League, Miley logged 1,493 minutes. Among players aged 21 or younger, that figure ranked fourth. Only Mateus Mane of Wolves, Leny Yoro of Manchester United and Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth recorded more top-flight minutes in that age group.

Newcastle United’s trust in Miley grew even though the season ended with a setback. Miley fractured a fibula and missed the closing weeks of the campaign. The new contract shows the club’s belief that Miley will remain central to future plans once fully recovered and available.
Miley has been part of Newcastle United’s academy structure since joining at the age of seven. The club highlighted that journey when confirming the agreement, stressing Miley’s rise through every youth level to the senior squad and the intention to keep developing that pathway.
Miley told the club's website: "I'm really pleased to sign this new contract and commit my future here. It's a dream to be representing Newcastle United, so this is a proud moment for me. It's been an amazing journey so far, and I'm so excited for what's ahead. I'm now working hard every day to get back on the pitch even stronger next season and start to repay the faith that has been shown in me."
The extension underlines Newcastle United’s long-term planning around Miley after a season of steady progress. Despite the mid-table finish and injury frustration, Miley’s minutes, output and academy roots support the decision, while the midfielder targets a stronger 2026-27 return once the fibula problem is fully resolved.
