Neymar's contract with Al-Hilal has been mutually terminated, paving the way for a potential return to Santos, his childhood club. The Saudi Pro League champions initially acquired Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 for 90 million. However, his stint in the Gulf was marred by injuries. He sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Brazil in October 2023 and later suffered a hamstring injury upon his return.
The 32-year-old forward had seven months left on a contract reportedly worth 150 million annually. Despite this lucrative deal, it was cancelled after Neymar made only seven appearances for Al-Hilal. The club expressed gratitude towards Neymar, stating: "The club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career at Al-Hilal and wish the player success in his career."

Earlier this month, Neymar was not registered for the Saudi Pro League, sparking rumours of a move to Inter Miami in MLS. However, recent reports indicate that he is likely to rejoin Santos. Neymar began his professional journey with Santos at age 11 in 2003 before moving to Barcelona in 2013.
During his time at Santos, Neymar scored an impressive 136 goals across 235 matches. The Sao Paulo-based club recently earned promotion back to Brazil's Serie A in 2024 after spending three years in the second division.
Neymar's departure from Al-Hilal marks another chapter in his career as he looks set to return to familiar grounds at Santos. His journey continues as fans eagerly await confirmation of his next move.
