Bengaluru, September 3: Brazilian superstar Neymar has admitted that his friend and international teammate Philippe Coutinho is having a tough time at the moment emotionally.

The 25-year-old has been the primary target of Barcelona throughout the summer, the club Neymar left for his world record move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, Liverpool turned down every offer from Barcelona which has caused major disappointment for Coutinho, as per Neymar.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, a long-time friend of Coutinho, managed to get his big move this summer as he quit Barcelona for a big-money switch to the French capital, which led to Barca looking for Coutinho.

However, Liverpool stood firm and reportedly rejected a bid of around £138million for their star player.

Commenting on his Brazil team-mate's situation, Neymar admitted Coutinho was unhappy at seeing the move fall through and expressed his support for him in this difficult time.

"Unfortunately, instead of being a happy time for him (Coutinho), for his family, it's a moment of anguish, disappointment and sadness," Neymar told reporters.

"I like to see him happy because he is a teammate and a friend that I've had for a long time.

"He was rewarded with a goal (against Ecuador) today, for his and our joy."

The Coutinho saga was one of the major talking points throughout the summer. The player has also been criticised by a host of football pundits for his unprofessional attitude towards the club he is contracted to.

The Brazilian was supposedly out with a back problem for Liverpool but magically became fit while on international duty with Brazil. In fact, he was not even seen on the stands in Liverpool's first five games of the season.

We have to wait and see how Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp deal with the situation once Coutinho comes back from Brazil duty.
