Nico Paz To Stay With Como For 2026-27 Under Real Madrid Buy-back Arrangement

Nico Paz is set to stay with Como for the entire 2026-27 season after a request from the player, while Real Madrid keep a future option. The renewed deal allows Real Madrid to buy Paz back in 2027-28. The agreement follows a season where Como secured Champions League qualification.

Paz originally signed a four-year contract with Como in August 2024 after leaving Real Madrid. Since then, the midfielder has played 75 games in all competitions. Paz has scored 19 goals and provided 17 assists, giving a direct contribution to 36 goals during Como’s rise in Serie A.

Real Madrid confirmed the new arrangement on Monday through an official statement that involved all three parties. The Spanish club highlighted that the extension came from Paz’s own wish to remain at Como. The agreement also states Real Madrid hold a unilateral buy-back clause for the following campaign.

Paz has become central to Como’s project since arriving from Real Madrid in 2024. The 21-year-old helped the Italian side qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. On the international stage, Paz featured twice for Argentina in the group phase of the World Cup.

Paz also addressed supporters directly with a detailed message on Instagram after reviewing options for several weeks. The midfielder explained the personal reasons for staying in Italy while referencing Real Madrid’s interests as well. After many weeks of reflection, I have decided that the best option for my career at this time is to stay at the club for another year, the club that gave me the opportunity to grow and become the player I am today, said the midfielder. I personally believe this is the best decision for both me and Real Madrid, as it is a very important year at this stage of my career and a unique opportunity to continue growing as a footballer and prepare myself in the best way for the future.

Como are scheduled to meet Arsenal and Liverpool in pre-season, preparing for domestic and European commitments. The Serie A campaign for 2026-27 begins against Udinese on 22 August. For Real Madrid, the structure of the agreement keeps long-term control over Paz while allowing further development at Como.
