Nigerian international Kalu Uche signs for Delhi Dynamos

New Delhi, Sep 8: Indian Super League franchise Delhi Dynamos have announced the signing of Nigerian forward Kalu Uche as their latest foreign recruitment for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

The 34-year-old is a versatile player who can play both as an attacking midfielder as well as a striker. Uche became the fourth foreign recruitment by the Delhi-based club ahead of next season.

Uche is not an unfamiliar face in the Indian football as he has already played for FC Pune City in 2015. During his spell in Pune, he had scored up 4 goals in 11 appearances to mark his presence in the Indian soil. The striker lastly played for Spanish second division side UD Almeria in last season.

The striker also has the experience of playing in the top tier football with clubs like Levante, Espanyol in Spanish La Liga and Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1. He has also registered five goals for Nigeria in 36 appearances and 2 goals in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

"I am happy to welcome Kalu to the Delhi Dynamos squad this year. Kalu brings a lot of experience to the team having played for Nigerian national team, has had over 175 appearances for Almeria, as well as having played in the ISL in 2015,” Delhi Dynamos Director Rohan Sharma said while revealing the player.

“Kalu will bring toughness in both mentally and physically to the team and I look forward to seeing him make a mark on the ISL this year,” Sharma added.

The Delhi-based club had earlier signed foreigners like Gabriel Cichero, Matias Mirabaje and Paulinho Dias to strengthen their team and the management will now assume that the Nigerian can now directly involve in the plans of coach Miguel Angel Portugalsystem ahead of the fourth version of Indian Super League.

The 34-year old's signing will surely add more exposure and sharpness to the forefront of the Lions who are searching for their maiden league victory in the tournament.
