Nine Teams Could Compete For Premier League Title In 2025-26, Says Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta asserts that up to nine teams may contend for the Premier League title in the upcoming season. Despite strong competition, he believes Arsenal has the potential to succeed with their recent signings and team improvements.

Mikel Arteta is optimistic about Arsenal's chances in the upcoming Premier League season, despite acknowledging that up to nine teams could be contenders for the title. Arsenal has consistently finished as runners-up in recent years, trailing Manchester City twice and Liverpool by 10 points in the 2024-25 season. However, Arteta believes his team has the necessary qualities to succeed.

Arsenal has been proactive in strengthening their squad during this transfer window. They have already secured four new signings: Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke. Additionally, they are expected to add Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera to their roster. Mosquera is reportedly set to join the team in Singapore after finalizing a deal.

Arteta: Nine Teams Could Win Premier League Title

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have also made significant changes to their squads ahead of the new season. Despite these developments, Arteta remains confident that Arsenal can claim the trophy. He emphasized the importance of focusing on factors within their control to achieve success by the end of the season.

Arteta stated, "Every year we have to see how things develop, but I see the right balance in terms of maturity, experience, youth, hunger, and all these ingredients are there." He acknowledged that several other clubs possess similar qualities but stressed that only one team will emerge victorious.

When questioned about Arsenal's title prospects, Arteta affirmed his belief in their potential. He noted that competition is intensifying each year and highlighted the need for increased demands on their performance. The club has been active in the transfer market and aims to enhance its existing players' abilities.

Arteta explained that setting strong foundations during pre-season is crucial for preparing the team for a successful start to the campaign. He mentioned that discussions among players revolve around improving and achieving more than before.

The Gunners are determined to make progress in two major competitions this season. Arteta emphasized that numerous details and moments must align in their favour for success. The team is committed to pushing for these favourable outcomes.

Securing Future Talent

In addition to acquiring new players, Arsenal has secured Myles Lewis-Skelly with a new contract. Ethan Nwaneri is reportedly following suit by committing his future to the club as well.

Arsenal will kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United on August 17. With a strengthened squad and renewed determination, they aim to make a strong start and contend for top honours this season.
