A dull first half so far with the game lacking pace. NorthEast United still used the quality of their two foreigners in attack to create chances while Philippoteaux hits the bar as well but the overall quality of the match wasn't pleasing.

NorthEast United are looking to shed the tag of perennial underachievers of top-tier Indian football as they reached the Indian Super League play-off stages just once back in 2019 and are yet to add a trophy cabinet.
A deep run in the Durand Cup 2023 will further boost their confidence ahead of a crucial ISL 2023-24 season when they will be looking to avoid relegations, introduced for the first time in the history of the tournament.
NorthEast United have been impressive in the Durand Cup 2023 so far with nine goals scored in the group stages as they finished runners-up to FC Goa. They were the top performing runners-up from the group stages and cleared the criteria of the top two lucky losers from group stages, along with Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
Playing in front of home fans in Guwahati, The Highlanders have conceded just three goals in the competition so far, two of which came in a 2-2 draw vs Goa. French playmaker and captain Romain Philippoteux and young striker Parthib Gogoi have been particularly impressive, the latter with four goals to his name so far including the tournament's first hat-trick.
Their Thursday's rivals, the Indian Army could be the weakest opponent the side could get from the draw as heavyweights like Mohun Bagan, and East Bengal among several others were also in the fray. However, the Indian Army are no pushover as they have remained unbeaten in the Durand Cup 2023.
They will also have a major boost ahead of the game as their main striker Liton Shil is available for selection after suspension in the last game. The military outfit got better of some of the big names of Indian football Mohammedan Sporting, Odisha FC and Jamshedpur FC to reach the knockout stages.
