Nottingham Forest Secures Historic 7-0 Victory Against Brighton In Premier League Match

Nottingham Forest achieved a remarkable 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground, marking their largest win in Premier League history. Chris Wood's hat-trick led the charge as Forest matched Arsenal's points total.

Chris Wood's hat-trick propelled Nottingham Forest to a commanding 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground. This win marked a return to form for Nuno Espirito Santo's side after their recent 5-0 loss to Bournemouth. The match saw Lewis Dunk inadvertently score an own goal, setting the tone for Forest's dominant performance.

Forest's triumph equalled their largest league win since defeating Chelsea by the same margin in 1991. Meanwhile, Brighton endured their heaviest league defeat since a 9-0 loss to Middlesbrough in 1958. This result leaves Brighton ninth in the standings, six points shy of the top six.

Forest Triumphs with 7-0 Win Over Brighton

Anthony Elanga played a crucial role, assisting twice in the first half. His corner led to Morgan Gibbs-White's header, and later, his cross allowed Wood to score. In the second half, Elanga again set up Wood for an easy finish, showcasing their effective partnership on the field.

Wood completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Tariq Lamptey fouled Gibbs-White. This achievement made him the first Forest player since Nigel Clough in 1987 to score a top-flight hat-trick at home. Wood now boasts 17 Premier League goals this season.

Neco Williams added another goal following a scramble in front of Brighton's net. Jota Silva sealed the victory by capitalising on Bart Verbruggen's poor pass. This emphatic win places Forest level with Arsenal on 47 points, with Arsenal set to play Manchester City next.

This match also saw Forest join Sheffield Wednesday as only the second team in Premier League history to lose by five or more goals and then win their next game by such a margin. Sheffield Wednesday achieved this feat back in November 1997.

Wood's impressive scoring record this season is only surpassed by Stan Collymore's tally of 22 goals during the 1994-95 campaign for Forest. His contribution has been vital for Nottingham Forest as they continue their push up the Premier League table.
