Nottingham Forest Confirm Vitor Pereira Departure As Oliver Glasner Linked For Potential Return To Management
Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Vitor Pereira has left the head coach role after the club chose to trigger a break clause in the contract. The decision follows the end of the Premier League season in which Pereira kept Forest safe from relegation.
Pereira had arrived in February as successor to Sean Dyche and guided Forest through a tense survival battle. Reports on Wednesday stated Forest had decided to dismiss Pereira, and the coach later released a statement confirming the dismissal and describing surprise at the timing.

Forest are expected to turn to Oliver Glasner, who is available after leaving Crystal Palace. Glasner is seen as a leading candidate to take charge at the City Ground, with Forest seeking continuity in the Premier League following Pereira’s sudden exit and the departure of the full coaching group.
Pereira’s spell covered 20 matches in all competitions, with eight wins and a 40% success rate. Forest also reached the Europa League semi-finals under Pereira, losing there to future winners Aston Villa. Glasner’s time at Palace brought three trophies, the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.
Across 121 games with Crystal Palace, Glasner recorded 51 victories, giving a 42.2% win percentage. While Forest handled the coaching change, the club also completed major squad business on Thursday. Elliot Anderson’s record transfer to Manchester City was finalised, and an extension clause was triggered in goalkeeper Matz Sels’ deal.
The new agreement keeps Belgian goalkeeper Sels at Nottingham Forest until the end of the 2027-28 season. Sels has made 96 appearances for Forest since joining in 2024, becoming a regular starter. The club now move into the next Premier League campaign with clarity on the goalkeeping position but uncertainty over the dugout.
