London, Feb 10: Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has opened about Jurgen Klopp's tenure at Signal Iduna Park heaping praise on the current Liverpool manager suggesting he made his squad believe they 'could beat anyone' in the World.
The Turkish midfielder got his break from Dortmund academy and since Klopp's inclusion, the player had become an integral part of the first Xi.
The Black and Yellows surprising everyone during Klopp's era outnumbered all the Bundesliga side, even ever dominating Bayern Munich to a back to back German League titles during 2010-11 and 2011-12 as well as one DFB Pokal despite having a lesser experienced squad and less popular names.
And now while revealing the secret, the 29-year-old has incited an incident where he explained how the former Mainz manager owns a tremendous power of motivating the players which reflected in the pitch during the 90 minutes.
In the 2011-12 season, leaders Dortmund headed to Bayern Munich with a massive 13 points lead over their Bavarian rivals in the race for the Bundesliga title and the players were then discussing over a possible draw at least.
However, Nurin claimed after knowing the mentality of the player Klopp interrupted the scene and provided much-needed impulse which helped them to beat the mighty German side comprehensively.
He said: “He gave us the philosophy that we can beat anyone. I remember when we played at Bayern Munich [in February 2011] in the season we became champions.
"We were seven points in front of them and we were in the hotel saying: 'OK, when we get a draw here, there are only a few more games to go.’ I don’t know how but he heard from someone that we were talking [like] this.
"He’s very smart, as you know…and then we had the most amazing meeting before the game. By the time we got on the bus I knew we’d win the game [Dortmund won 3-1].”
Jurgen Klopp's tenure as a Liverpool boss also has been till now decent. Although Klopp finished seventh in his first season at Anfield but managed to take their team to a Europa League and EFL Cup final, however, lost both.
But next season he provided the Merseyside with a stable top-four finish and this season also Kops are currently third in the domestic table despite way spending less than other top four rivals.
