Arne Slot is optimistic about Liverpool's future following the performances of Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni in a pre-season win against Yokohama F. Marinos. The match, which ended 3-1, featured goals from Florian Wirtz, Nyoni, and Ngumoha. This victory marked the conclusion of Liverpool's pre-season tour in Asia.

Ngumoha, who had previously played in Liverpool's FA Cup third-round win over Arrington Stanley, impressed with his goal against Yokohama. He skillfully maneuvered past two defenders before finding the bottom right corner of the net. Despite this, Slot noted that Ngumoha still has areas to improve if he wants more playing time next season.

Slot highlighted the impact of young players like Ngumoha and Nyoni on the game. "Like I said, he wasn't the only one that impacted the game from the bench because Trey Nyoni, also a youngster, scored [and was] assisted by Jeremie Frimpong," Slot stated. Curtis Jones also contributed significantly by winning possession in midfield for the first goal.

Slot expressed satisfaction with having talented young players emerging from Liverpool's academy. He believes their presence energises the team and is beneficial for its development. However, he pointed out that Ngumoha missed an opportunity to pass to Alexis Mac Allister or Curtis Jones during a crucial moment in the match.

Slot also addressed Luis Diaz's transfer to Bayern Munich for £75 million (€65.6 million). Diaz was instrumental in Liverpool's recent Premier League title win under Slot's management.
