A clinical performance by the reliable names of Odisha FC as this was far from the entertaining and attack-friendly side one expects from a Sergio Lobera side. It will take a few matches before they play more like a unit, till then the coach will hope that the likes of Diego Mauricio, Jerry, Ahmed Jahouh among others keep bringing their individual brilliance to affect a game like they did in the opening match of the season!

88' Chennaiyin FC's not-so-convicing efforts have won them at least two set piece opportunities in the last few minutes but they failed to capitalise on any of it! 88 minutes into their new season and they are yet to score! Meanwhile Jerry is taken off by Odisha and replaced by Sahil Panwar!
83' Alexander Romario sends in a dangerous cross from the left following an overlapping run. Odisha FC are playing their first match of the new Indian Super League at home, Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, against Chennaiyin FC. The match starts at 5:30 PM IST.
Both sides have new coaches for the season with Odisha bringing a high-profile coach in Sergio Lobera, who enjoyed a successful tenure in ISL in the past with FC Goa. Chennaiyin FC, on the other end, have brought back Englishman Owen Coyle, who took the Chennai-based club to the ISL final in 2020.
Odisha FC have spent big during the summer transfer window as well with star foreign signings in Ahmed Jahouh, Mourtada Fall and Cy Goddard. Key domestic players Lenny Rodrigues, Amey Ranawade were also brought in. Diego Mauricio remains their key players with the Brazilian finishing as the joint top-scorer with 12 goals.
For Chennaiyin FC, the key arrivals have been Scottish forward Connor Shields, Australian winger Jordan Murray, Brazilian midfielder Rafael Crivellaro from Jamshedpur FC.
The Brazilian comes amid high expectations for a second stint at the club. An assist for the goal by him tonight will also make him the most successful playmaker in the history of Chennaiyin FC. He is currently tied on nine assists with Anirudh Thapa.
As far as head-to-head is concerned, this will be 19th match between the two sides with Odisha FC winning seven wins while Chennaiyin FC won three of them. Eight games ended a draw. CFC in fact are yet to win at the Kalinga Stadium while playing seven matches at the venue in the past.
