Odisha FC vs Mohun Bagan: Juggernauts hold Mariners to keep summit spot

Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan settled for a goalless draw at Kalinga Stadium on Saturday in the ISL 2023-24 season, leading to both teams earning a point each. The first half witnessed a display of strong defense from the home side, while the visitors encountered missed opportunities despite their attacking efforts.

In the early exchanges, Armando Sadiku exhibited tenacity as he won the ball and slipped it to Petratos; however, the Australian striker failed to capitalize on the chance. Meanwhile, OFC Isaka Ralte attempted a shot, albeit straight at Kaith.

Odisha FC vs Mohun Bagan:

The 6th minute saw Manvir Singh of Mohun Bagan making a darting run, setting up Sahal, who unfortunately lost possession. Odisha FC, on the other hand, faced defensive challenges but managed to block Sadiku's shot through Mourtada Fall's intervention.

In the 15th minute when Puitea delivered an excellent cross, yet Odisha's attackers failed to connect with it effectively.

As the first half progressed, Sadiku squandered a significant opportunity in the 24th minute, hesitating in front of goal and ultimately firing over the crossbar under pressure from Odisha defenders. Moments later, Carlos Delgado's loss of possession to Sahal led to another close chance for Mohun Bagan, with Sadiku's shot being superbly denied by Amrinder Singh.

The first half concluded with both teams deadlocked at 0-0, despite late attempts from Mohun Bagan. In additional time, Diego's shot hit the post before Diego Mauricio's effort struck the bar, leaving the scoreline unchanged as the teams headed into the halftime break.

The second half saw Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan maintain their spirited play. Petratos's early shot for Odisha was saved comfortably, while Mohun Bagan's crosses were cleared by Mourtada Fall.

Roy Krishna missed a golden opportunity in the 62nd minute, failing to convert after a brilliant run. Diego Mauricio's dribbling threat was neutralized by Yuste in the 69th minute. In stoppage time, Cummings's header for Odisha was heroically saved by Amrinder Singh. Despite efforts from both sides, the match ended goalless draw.

Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan ISL Next Match

Odisha FC will face East Bengal FC on February 29 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, whereas Mohun Bagan will be at home for their next match against Jamshedpur FC on March 1.
