Chiedozie Ogbene has joined Ipswich Town from Luton Town to strengthen their attack for the 2024-25 Premier League season. The 27-year-old winger signed a four-year contract with Ipswich for a reported £8 million transfer fee.
Last season, Ogbene made 30 Premier League appearances for Luton Town, scoring four goals. His impressive attacking displays included completing 61 out of 114 dribbles, second only to Ross Barkley (102). He also created 26 chances, ranking third in the Luton squad.

Ogbene expressed his excitement about the move, stating on Ipswich's official website, "I’m very excited and feel lucky to have this opportunity to play in the Premier League again. I’ve had very positive chats with the manager and for someone to believe in me that I could play at this level again means a lot to me and my family."
The Republic of Ireland international becomes Ipswich's tenth permanent signing of the transfer window and their seventh acquisition from Championship sides. Ogbene will wear the number 21 shirt at Ipswich.
Kieran McKenna’s team is still looking to add another forward after Wes Burns suffered a hamstring injury in their opening day defeat to Liverpool. They are currently in talks with Chelsea regarding Armando Broja.
Ogbene added, "I know what he wants from me and the role I will play and I’m here to be a positive addition to the squad as we look to achieve our goals. It’s an opportunity I had to grab with both hands and I can’t wait to be involved as soon as possible."
Ipswich Town will face AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. This match provides an early test for their new recruit as they aim to progress further in the competition.
