Paulo Fonseca has confirmed that Noah Okafor will replace Alvaro Morata in Milan's upcoming Serie A match against Parma. Okafor, who joined from RB Salzburg in 2023, made 28 appearances last season but started only six games. The Swiss international scored six league goals and opened his account for the new season in a 2-2 draw with Torino.
Morata, who led Spain to victory at Euro 2024, debuted for Milan with a goal but was substituted after 30 minutes due to a thigh injury. The 31-year-old is expected to be out for three weeks, giving Okafor a chance to prove himself. "I have to be honest, Okafor will play tomorrow," Fonseca stated during a press conference. "It will be a different game than the first one. We want to have the capacity to play higher compared to the game with Torino."

Fonseca praised Okafor's performance during training and believes the match conditions suit his abilities. "During the week, Okafor responded well and the characteristics of the match suit his qualities," he added. Luka Jovic might also feature later in the game.
Morata played 453 minutes for Spain at the European Championships, contributing a goal and an assist as they secured their fourth title. Despite not completing any full matches in Germany, he managed his longest stint of 80 minutes against the hosts in the quarter-finals.
After making 48 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season, Morata arrived at San Siro with a muscular injury complaint. Fonseca explained, "He wanted to play, but together with my staff, we understood that it would be risky." Morata assured them he felt fine, but they decided it was best not to risk further injury.
The coach acknowledged the challenges of integrating players who join late and need immediate playing time. "It's a problem when players arrive late and we need to play them, but I believe we handled the situation well," Fonseca said.
With Morata sidelined, Okafor now has an opportunity to make an impact for Milan in their upcoming fixtures.
