Oliver Skipp Joins Leicester City In £20M Move From Tottenham

Leicester City confirms the signing of midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur for a £20m fee. The 23-year-old inked a five-year contract ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash. Skipp, who has made over 100 appearances for Spurs, looks forward to contributing to his new team under manager Steve Cooper.

Leicester City have confirmed the acquisition of Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Foxes for a reported fee of £20 million. Skipp, who played 106 matches over five seasons with Spurs, will join Leicester ahead of their Premier League clash on Monday.

Last season, Skipp appeared in 21 league games under Ange Postecoglou, starting in five and accumulating 694 minutes on the pitch. His standout season came in 2022-23 when he made 31 appearances across all competitions and scored his only goal for Tottenham in a 2-0 victory over Chelsea. During that campaign, he completed 659 passes, surpassing teammates like Son Heung-min (644), Harry Kane (613), and Dejan Kulusevski (558).

Skipp Seals £20M Leicester Move

Skipp expressed his enthusiasm about joining Leicester City. "I’m really excited to sign. I’ve got the feeling that it’s a good group of people and a good group of players," he told Leicester's official website. "I’m sure that we’ve got a squad capable of challenging in every game."

The move reunites Skipp with Leicester's new manager Steve Cooper, who previously coached him during his time with England's youth teams. This familiarity is something Skipp values highly as he looks forward to contributing to his new team.

Skipp was also part of the England Under-21 squad that clinched the European Championship last year. He played 17 minutes in their 1-0 final win against Spain, adding an international accolade to his resume.

"The staff here know me as well - Steve [Cooper], I have worked with at England, so there’s definitely a good relationship there and I’m keen to push on and show what I can do," Skipp added.

Excitement for Future Challenges

Reflecting on his decision to join Leicester, Skipp mentioned the positive conversations he had with the club's personnel. "I had conversations with the people here and they gave me a feeling of warmth and that they were excited to have me on board," he said. "As a player, when you feel that excitement, that’s something you can use to develop your game."

Skipp is optimistic about what lies ahead for him at Leicester City. "You look around the squad and there’s lots of exciting players who have played in the Premier League and I’m really excited to see what this group can achieve," he noted.

The addition of Skipp strengthens Leicester City's midfield options as they aim for success in the upcoming season.
