Olympics: Football: Great Britain vs South Korea Preview

Cardiff, Aug 4: The Welsh influence in Great Britain has certainly clicked as Stuart Pearce's men gear up for their quarterfinal clash at London Olympics against Asian giants South Korea.

Olympic Specials

Welshmen captain Ryan Giggs, winger Craig Bellamy and midfielders Aaron Ramsey along with Liverpool target Joe Allen have inspired Team GB's quest to Olympic glory.

Great Britain topped Group A after beating South American outfit Uruguay while South Korea dropped second to Mexico in Group B.

Pearce's men entered the last eight after clinching two wins in three but squandered their chances in the drawn match against Senegal. Korea, on the other hand, have qualified for the quarter finals of the Olympics thrice.

Hong Myung-Bo's men have been solid at the games conceding only one goal, but they managed 1 win in three games scoring two goals against Switzerland while the other two matches against Gabon and Mexico have ended in a scoreless draw.

Striker Daniel Sturridge will start ahead of Marvin Sordell while Bellamy is set to partner him front of goal. Captain Giggs could start ahead of winger Scott Sinclair. Rest of the midfield and back line is set to remain the same.

Meanwhile, Korea will be happy to retain five players in midfield with Arsenal striker Park Chu-Young will lead the attack upfront.

The match kick-starts at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff at 12:00 AM IST on Sunday.

Probable Lineups:

Team GB: Butland-Taylor, Richards, Caulker, Bertrand-Ramsey, Allen, Giggs, Cleverley-Sturridge, Bellamy.

South Korea: Jung-Yoon, Y Kim, Hwang, C Kim-B Kim, Ki, Cheol, Nam, J Park-Park.
