Rain, Resilience And Big Wins On Day 2

New Delhi, July 8, 2026: Heavy rain and waterlogging at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium shaped Day 2 of the Oriental Cup 2026 on Wednesday, but young footballers still delivered strong displays. Tagore International School, Step by Step School, Noida, The Air Force School, Subroto Park, and DAV Public School, Faridabad won in the Boys' category, while Sapphire International School, Noida won in the Girls' category.

Tagore International School beat Sapphire International School, Noida 2-0 in the Boys' match, with Ayushman Sharma scoring in the fourth and 29th minutes. In the Girls' fixture, Sapphire International School won 2-0 after Dhanvi Chawla scored in the sixth minute and Aadya Chawla added another in the 12th minute.

Key Results From The Day

St. Francis De Sales Senior Secondary School advanced in both categories after walkovers against St. Mary's School, Safdarjung Enclave. Step by Step School, Noida also moved ahead in the Girls' category by walkover against The Indian School. These results kept the second day of the competition moving despite the difficult ground conditions.

Standout Performances In The Boys' Draw

Step by Step School, Noida posted a 4-0 win over The Indian School. Chitman Singh scored in the ninth and 16th minutes, Yuvaan Krishna added the third in the 20th minute, and Vansh Gulati finished the scoring in the 27th minute. The Air Force School, Subroto Park also won 3-0, with Arnab Kashyap scoring all three goals in the fifth, 15th and 25th minutes.

DAV Public School, Faridabad closed the day with a 5-0 win over Maharaja Aggarsain Adarsh Public School. Hitesh Solanki scored in the third minute, Pawan Gupta added a second-half goal, and Tarun Gaur completed a hat-trick. The Oriental Cup 2026 continues on Thursday at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

Tournament Details

The fourth edition of the tournament runs from July 7 to July 16 and is expected to feature over 1,500 student-athletes from more than 45 teams across Delhi-NCR. The event also carries a more than doubled prize pool and a ₹2.5 lakh scholarship programme for 10 deserving student-athletes. Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt. Ltd. is the title sponsor.
