Orlando City have transferred Facundo Torres to Palmeiras in Brazil for a record fee. The Uruguayan forward, who joined the MLS side before the 2022 season, has reportedly been sold for approximately $12 million. Torres became Orlando's top scorer with 47 goals and set a club record for most goals in a single season with 20.
During his three-year stint, Torres played 123 matches across all competitions, starting in 113 of them. He also contributed 25 assists. His efforts were pivotal in helping Orlando City secure their first trophy in the MLS era, the 2022 U.S. Open Cup. Additionally, he was instrumental in their debut appearances in the Concacaf Champions Cup and reaching the MLS Conference Finals.

In a heartfelt social media post on Friday, Torres expressed his gratitude to Orlando City. "Today, I say goodbye to a club that marked an unforgettable stage in my career and in my life, my first experience as a professional away from home," he stated. He thanked the staff, teammates, and everyone involved with the club for their unwavering support and trust from day one.
Torres leaves Orlando City with pride for their shared achievements and satisfaction from leaving his mark on the club. He wished them success in future endeavours and expressed how special the club will always be to him. "Thank you for everything, Orlando. I'll miss you," he concluded.
The transfer marks a significant moment for both Torres and Orlando City as they part ways after a successful partnership that saw numerous milestones achieved together.
