Manchester City forward Oscar Bobb will be out for three to four months due to a leg fracture, confirmed Pep Guardiola. Reports on Wednesday indicated that Bobb sustained the injury during training and would undergo medical tests to determine its severity. He had participated in all five of City's pre-season friendlies and their Community Shield win over Manchester United.
Guardiola revealed in Friday's pre-match press conference that Bobb will miss the initial months of the season. The club hopes he will return before the year's end. "It was in the training session. Unfortunately, he had a big impact and got injured. He is having surgery this afternoon," Guardiola stated. "Hopefully, it will go well and he will be back in three or four months."

Bobb's absence is particularly disheartening given his impressive pre-season performance. Guardiola expressed sadness over the injury, not just because of Bobb's form but due to the nature of long-term injuries. "We are so sad for him, not because of his incredible pre-season, that doesn't matter, but because we are any time there is a long injury," he said.
Bobb made 26 appearances for City last season across all competitions, accumulating 819 minutes on the pitch with seven starts. He scored two goals and provided one assist, including a memorable stoppage-time winner against Newcastle United in January.
With Julian Alvarez recently sold to Atletico Madrid for a club-record £95 million (€81.5 million), questions arose about whether Bobb's injury would force City into the transfer market. Guardiola responded cautiously: "Maybe or maybe not, we will see. I'm really pleased with the squad I have; we will see what happens in the market."
Guardiola added that they might continue with the current squad until January or consider adding new players depending on how things unfold. "We can continue to January in that way or maybe we will add some players," he mentioned.
The team remains hopeful for Bobb's recovery and looks forward to his return to action soon.
