Galatasaray's head coach, Okan Buruk, has revealed that the club is on the verge of finalising a permanent deal for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward was instrumental in Galatasaray's success last season, having been on loan from Napoli. He played a crucial role in securing both the league title and the Turkish Cup for the team.
Osimhen's performance last season was remarkable as he emerged as the top scorer in the division. He scored 26 goals in 30 matches, averaging a goal every 89.4 minutes. His conversion rate stood at 18.8% from 138 shots taken during the 2024-25 season. In addition to his league success, he netted five goals in four Turkish Cup games, including two in the final against Trabzonspor.

Buruk emphasised that completing Osimhen's transfer is a priority for Galatasaray, alongside signing a new goalkeeper. "Everything is going well with Osimhen," Buruk stated. "We are nearing the end. We want it to end as soon as possible." He expressed optimism about both Osimhen's willingness and ongoing discussions with Napoli.
The coach highlighted that their entire transfer strategy hinges on securing Osimhen. A significant budget has been allocated for this purpose. Buruk mentioned that once this deal concludes, they will explore other transfer options. The club is also clear about needing another goalkeeper to strengthen their squad.
Buruk acknowledged the importance of managing their budget effectively post-Osimhen's transfer. He noted that they have been patient with this process and will consider other options once it's complete. The club aims to recruit another goalkeeper despite having strong performers like Gunay and Jankat, who impressed during friendly matches.
The coach also mentioned potential player departures to make room for new signings. While Osimhen and a goalkeeper remain top priorities, other positions are under consideration for future transfers.
Galatasaray remains focused on strengthening their squad strategically while ensuring financial prudence in their transfer dealings.
