Palladino Takes Over As Atalanta Head Coach After Juric's Dismissal

Atalanta has appointed Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach following the sacking of Ivan Juric. Palladino aims to reverse the club's fortunes after a disappointing run in Serie A.

Atalanta have appointed Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach after dismissing Ivan Juric. Juric was let go following a 3-0 home loss to Sassuolo, which extended Atalanta's winless streak to seven league matches. This poor run has left them in 13th place, marking their longest winless spell since 2018. Palladino, who parted ways with Fiorentina six months ago, is now tasked with revitalising the team.

Palladino's coaching journey began with Monza, where he achieved respectable finishes of 11th and 12th in Serie A. In June 2024, he succeeded Vincenzo Italiano at Fiorentina. During his tenure there, Palladino led the team to a sixth-place finish and secured Conference League qualification, marking their best performance since the 2015-16 season under Paulo Sousa. Despite signing a contract extension, he departed from Fiorentina in May.

Palladino Named Atalanta Head Coach

Throughout his career, Palladino has managed 108 Serie A games, winning 44 of them. This gives him a win rate of 40.7%, with 29 draws and 35 losses. His first challenge with Atalanta will be against Serie A champions Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on November 22.

Palladino's departure from Fiorentina came just three weeks after extending his contract. His achievements there included securing European football for the club and achieving their highest league position in nearly a decade. Now at Atalanta, he faces the task of reversing their current form and climbing up the league table.

The upcoming match against Napoli presents a significant test for Palladino as he begins his tenure at Atalanta. The team will need to regroup quickly under his leadership to tackle this formidable opponent and improve their standing in Serie A.
