Paris Saint-Germain Triumphs Over Rennes 3-1 As Barcola Shines Before Arsenal Match

Bradley Barcola scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-1 win against Rennes. The result highlights Barcola's impressive form ahead of their Champions League match against Arsenal.

Bradley Barcola's impressive form continued as he scored twice to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a 3-1 win over Rennes at Parc des Princes. The match began with Marquinhos nearly scoring from Achraf Hakimi's corner, but VAR ruled it offside. Barcola opened the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalising on a mistake by Christopher Wooh and curling the ball past Steve Mandanda.

After the break, PSG extended their lead when Lee Kang-In scored into an empty net following Barcola's shot hitting the post. Ten minutes later, Barcola secured his second goal, converting Hakimi's cross at the back post. Rennes managed to score a consolation goal from a penalty after Beraldo handled Hans Hateboer's header, with Arnaud Kalimuendo converting from 12 yards.

Barcola Leads PSG to Victory Over Rennes

Barcola's performance was notable as he achieved his second brace of the season, bringing his total to six goals in six matches. This is two more than his entire tally last season when he scored four times in 26 games. He also led PSG with four shots on target and 13 touches in the opposition box, achieving an expected goals (xG) of 0.92 out of PSG’s total of 2.72.

Ousmane Dembele also stood out for PSG under Luis Enrique. Since last season began, he has provided 11 assists in Ligue 1, which is at least two more than any other player during this period. Additionally, Dembele has been involved in a goal for three consecutive league games for only the second time in his PSG career.

The victory solidifies PSG’s position at the top of Ligue 1 as they prepare for their upcoming Champions League clash against Arsenal. The team will look to maintain their momentum and continue their strong performances both domestically and in Europe.
