Bengaluru, February 23: Already under pressure for his dismal performance in the Champions League with Paris-Saint Germain, Unai Emery might face the axe next season as the French side race with Chelsea to swoop in ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

Winning three back-to-back Europa League titles with Sevilla, Unai Emery made a move to Paris two seasons ago. But he got a reality check of the Champions League with his sensational 6-1 botch up at Camp Nou last season.

Things haven’t been fair this season either as PSG face an uphill task to resurrect from a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the round-of-16 tie.

Already grabbing the services of Neymar, who was the architect in their humiliating 6-1 loss at Nou Camp, reports have emerged that PSG have already decided to rope in Luis Enrique for next season, who ironically was Barcelona’s coach in the same humiliating fixture.

For the Parisians, Ligue 1 has never been a problem especially with their four back-to-back titles in the last five years, three with Laurent Blanc and one with Emery. But the problem that still persists is their voodoo in the Champions League.

Since their rise from 2010-11, Paris haven’t reached beyond the Quarter-Final stage in these eight seasons and now are on verge of getting eliminated in the round-of-16 this time.

In an article in El Periodico de Catalunya, Luis Enrique was photographed on a Qatar Airways flight to Doha, where PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi lives. And rumors have since emerged that Enrique could sign a pre-contract before next season begins.

Chelsea are the toughest competition that PSG face, who are looking for a new manager after reports of Antonio Conte wanting the Italy job back emerged.

Chelsea have set a high priority on Juve boss Max Allegri and Luis Enrique. However, Enrique s understood to wait until summer so he can take an entirely new project and freshen things up at his next managerial stint.
