Paris Saint-Germain Extend Ligue 1 Lead After 3-0 Win Over Angers

Paris Saint-Germain moved closer to another Ligue 1 crown with a 3-0 victory at Angers, tightening control of the title race. The result keeps PSG six points clear of Lens with four matches remaining and a much stronger goal difference.

Opta’s supercomputer now rates PSG’s chances of lifting the Ligue 1 trophy at 99.4%. Angers, by contrast, remain firmly in trouble and extended a long losing sequence against PSG that underlines the gap between the clubs.

PSG extend Ligue 1 lead after 3-0 Angers win

PSG are flawless against bottom-half Ligue 1 opponents this season, winning all 16 such league fixtures. Luis Enrique’s team also achieved a fifth straight away clean sheet in all competitions, a run last seen between September and October 2020. Defensive organisation again matched their attacking strength.

Angers’ difficulties in this fixture continued, with the club now suffering 18 successive defeats against PSG. That stretch is the longest losing run Angers have endured against a single opponent. The latest setback came despite occasional attacking threat and periods of determined resistance in both halves.

The visitors started fast and took the lead after seven minutes. Achraf Hakimi forced a save from Herve Koffi, and Lee Kang-In rounded Koffi to finish the rebound calmly. That early goal handed PSG control and silenced most home optimism.

Angers briefly believed they had levelled in the 21st minute when Amine Sbai scored, but the assistant’s flag halted celebrations for offside. Soon after, Hakimi struck the post from a free-kick, underlining PSG’s threat from set plays as pressure steadily increased before half-time.

PSG’s second arrived on 39 minutes. Beraldo advanced from the back and picked out Senny Mayulu, who converted to double the lead. Seven minutes after the restart, Beraldo turned scorer, meeting Lee’s cross and diverting the ball in off a shoulder.

Goncalo Ramos complicated matters late on for PSG after receiving two yellow cards. The forward’s second booking came for a needless sliding challenge on Koffi, leaving PSG with 10 players for the final 16 minutes. Even so, Angers created little and PSG closed out the match comfortably.
