Paul Scholes tips Luke Shaw to leave Manchester United, join Tottenham Hotspur

London, March 19: Luke Shaw became one of England's most sought-after youngster after he impressed during his stay at Southampton with current Tottenham Hotspur manager Pochettino at the helm.

The player joined United for £30million in 2014 with lots of hype however never replicated his form. To his misery, he suffered a horrific double leg break in September 2015 and since his return, the player till now has lost his regular birth in the squad.

Ahead of him, Mourinho has played Blind, Rojo and mostly Ashley Young as his left-back, however, the player was given a rare start in United's last match in FA Cup Qf against Brighton but was substituted at half-time for Ashley Young.

Following the match, Jose Mourinho criticised the 22-year-old full-back, stating that he removed him from the game because he wanted to make his defence more “solid.”.

Mourinho has hit out at Shaw numerous times during the year-and-a-half at Old Trafford for his mentality and poor on-field display but also named him as one of the best left-backs in the world in January this year.

However, after Mourinho's latest comments have increased the complexity between them and it is now believed that a brutal assessment from Mourinho now has convinced Shaw to pack his bags at Old Trafford.

And with Shaw's stay are looking increasingly bleak at United, former club legend Paul Scholes now has suggested that he can only see the club offloading the England international at the end of the season. For his betterment, the young left-back should make an attempt to reunite with his old boss Pochettino at Spurs and that way the player still can have the potential to become an elite player.

"I still believe he could be the best in the world and in the summer he could go to Tottenham or somewhere and he could improve," Scholes told BT Sport.

"I couldn't see a difference between him and Young.

"I think sometimes, managers get in their head that there's a player not for them.

"For me, I think he could be brilliant but his manager will still find something wrong with him.

"It is disappointing because when Luke Shaw came you thought what a player that is and he could be the best.

"It's a relationship that comes the summer will end. It keeps going on and on but he isn't playing games."

Shaw was earlier linked with Spurs over a possible winter departure with United also preferring a move for Spurs left-back Danny Rose but later Mourinho dropped-off interest in the player after the English player struggled for consistency.
