Paulinho Advocates For Mauricio Pochettino's Return To Tottenham Hotspur To Continue His Legacy

Former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho hopes Mauricio Pochettino returns to the club. He praises Pochettino's achievements and believes he has unfinished business at Spurs.

Paulinho, a former Tottenham player, is hopeful that Mauricio Pochettino will return to the club for another stint. Pochettino had a successful five-year tenure at Tottenham, leading them to a second-place finish in the Premier League in 2016-17 and their first Champions League final in 2019. Despite his achievements, he was dismissed in November 2019, five months after the Champions League final.

Pochettino managed 293 matches across all competitions with Tottenham, securing victory in 159 of them. His win rate of 54.3% is only surpassed by Andre Villas-Boas' 55%. Paulinho expressed admiration for Pochettino's managerial style and achievements, stating, "Pochettino was a manager whose work I really liked, his day-to-day dynamics, the content." He believes Pochettino deserves another opportunity to continue his interrupted story at Spurs.

Paulinho Supports Pochettino's Potential Return

Currently, Spurs are experiencing a transitional phase under new head coach Thomas Frank. After winning the Europa League last season by defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the final, they parted ways with Ange Postecoglou shortly after. Frank's start has been mixed; Spurs are fifth in the league table but have struggled to secure home victories.

Despite their challenges at home, Spurs remain unbeaten on the road and have not lost in the Champions League yet. Paulinho acknowledges that adapting to a new coach takes time but remains optimistic about their future performance. He commented on the competitive nature of the Premier League: "The Premier League is tough these days. So, I think there are obviously some fluctuations in results."

Pochettino has also expressed interest in returning to manage in the Premier League someday. Besides Tottenham, he has previously managed Southampton and Chelsea. Paulinho hopes that if Pochettino feels he has unfinished business with Spurs, he will seize any opportunity to return.

Spurs' Current Standing

Tottenham currently sits eight points behind league leaders Arsenal. They have shown resilience on away grounds but need improvement at home. Paulinho believes that fluctuations are part of football and trusts those managing the club to make timely improvements.

Paulinho remains hopeful about Tottenham's future under its current management. He appreciates how well-managed the club has been historically and expects continued improvement despite challenges. "It's an important club worldwide," he noted while expressing optimism for better outcomes ahead.
