Bengaluru, August 27: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola questioned the decisions of referee Mike Dean in their match against Bournemouth on Saturday (August 26) after he sent off Raheem Sterling following a 97th-minute winner to earn his side a 2-1 victory.
Raheem Sterling's last-gasp winner gave City the three points, however, Guardiola was baffled following Sterling's second yellow card by Mike Dean for celebrating with the crowd at the away end.
That was City's second red card in five days after Kyle Walker was harshly sent off against Everton on Monday (August 21), and Guardiola questioned the decisions that why City are receiving red cards constantly.
The Former Barcelona manager has seen his players often get red cards from last season, however, he did not raise the question last term, but after yesterday's match Pep could not hold his anger and doubted referee Mike Dean's abilty to officiate a game.
“Maybe someone can explain why,” said the City manager. “I would like to know because Rash against Liverpool will not be able to play and we missed Kyle Walker for a fault that doesn’t exist.
“You cannot celebrate with the fans? You tell me the is a reason why.
“So maybe we play without fans. When Bournemouth score a goal they go to that end to celebrate with the fans. It is what it is.”
Guardiola also stated Bournemouth's Nathan Ake should have been sent off earlier in the game for a clean foul on Gabriel Jesus in the first half. Jesus was clear on goal but then Ake cut him off with a foul but Dean just showed a yellow card and Guardiola claimed that should have been a straight red.
“Definitely,” he said. “I am saying that after winning. If we lose I don’t speak about that. But after a win I can say. He is the last man - he’s sent off,” an upset Guardiola concluded.
