Philippe Coutinho not for sale: Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed chances of Barcelona signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool as he states the Brazilian is not for sale.

Berlin, August 1: Despite Liverpool having rejected Barcelona's initial £72 million bid for their star man Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian still continues to be linked with a move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona had a bid rejected a fortnight ago and remain desperate to take the Brazil international to Camp Nou and are rumoured to be coming back with a bigger sum to test Liverpool's resilience.

However, Klopp insists that Liverpool's stance remains unwavering which is Coutinho is not for sale, regardless of any improved offer from the Catalan giants.

The Reds' hand could be stronger considering that the 25-year-old playmaker is under contract until 2022 and there is no release clause in his contract that Barca could trigger.

"There is no other way to interpret it - he is not available to be sold," Klopp told a press conference in Munich ahead of the Audi Cup.

"The word 'not' means there is no interpretation for that. It's nothing new, is it?"

Coutinho has been on fire for Liverpool so far in pre-season and it does not seem that he will force a move to Barcelona as Klopp had claimed that the player feels happy and loves life at Anfield.

Some contradictory reports also claim that Coutinho has agreed personal terms with Barcelona and is just waiting for a fee to be discussed between the two clubs but we believe those rumours to be false.

Barcelona find themselves in a tricky situation with Neymar thought to be Paris Saint-Germain bound and had eyed Coutinho as a replacement for his compatriot. They are also monitoring Dele Alli and Eden Hazard if they fail to lure Coutinho.

Liverpool are set to face Bayern Munich in a high-profile friendly game in the Audi Cup tonight (August 1) and both sides will be looking to impress their fans ahead of the season.
